The AIA represents the architectural profession and can provide the resources and the tools to help you meet your professional challenges whether you are an intern or a firm principal, an architect working alone or in a large firm, a government employee, or a corporate architect. Your colleagues can help you access the information, knowledge, and experience you need to make the best business decisions and to set your professional agenda.

Architect Member (AIA)
I am an architect registered to practice in one or more U.S. states.
Please go to the National AIA website for information and to download an application form.
The National dues are on the application form. AIA Maine dues are $246 per year for individual members. Member firms are also responsible for supplemental dues.

Associate Member (Associate AIA)
I am not eligible for the membership above and I meet one or more of the following criteria:
- I hold a degree in architecture
- I work under the supervision of a registered architect
- I am in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working towards licensure
- I am a faculty member in a university program in architecture

Allied Individual Member
I am not eligible for either of the memberships above but I am in a field allied to architecture.
The allied membership was created at the state level to promote communication among all members of the design and construction team. It is open to engineers, planners, landscape architects, contractors, artists, and those in government, education, journalism, manufacturing and other fields allied to architecture. Allied members are members of AIA Maine but are not National AIA members.
Allied membership dues are $200 per year.

Educational Programs
Through a robust continuing education program, AIA members stay current and competitive—whether it’s at the AIA National Convention or a workshop offered by one of almost 3,000 AIA certified education providers. The CES records platform will display your transcript, help you find the best courses, and generally make your professional education journey a little easier.
Legislative Agenda
The AIA and its members have developed a legislative agenda that calls on Congress and the Administration to pursue policies that will stimulate work for architects. When Congress recently proposed a tax increase on individuals and small businesses that form S Corporations, thousands of AIA members, speaking in a collective voice, succeeded in tabling the proposal in the Senate.

Members receive a discount of up to 30 percent when purchasing AIA Contract Documents software. AIA Contract Documents are recognized as the industry standard.
Member Publications
Keep up-to-date with the profession’s trends and issues with AIArchitect, the bi-weekly electronic newsletter. Membership also includes an annual print or digital subscription to ARCHITECT, the magazine of the AIA, and access to digital issues for EcoHome, Eco-structure, and Residential Architect. AIA Maine members also receive free copies of Maine Home and Design through our partnership with this publication.

AIA Maine Chapter
