The AIA represents the architectural profession and can provide the resources and the tools to help you meet your professional challenges whether you are an intern or a firm principal, an architect working alone or in a large firm, a government employee, or a corporate architect. Your colleagues can help you access the information, knowledge, and experience you need to make the best business decisions and to set your professional agenda.

Architect Member (AIA)
I am an architect registered to practice in one or more U.S. states.
Please go to the National AIA website for information and to download an application form.
The National dues are on the application form. AIA Maine dues are $245 per year for individual members. Member firms are also responsible for supplemental dues.

Associate Member (Associate AIA)
I am not eligible for the membership above and I meet one or more of the following criteria:
- I hold a degree in architecture
- I work under the supervision of a registered architect
- I am in the Intern Development Program (IDP) and working towards licensure
- I am a faculty member in a university program in architecture

The National AIA dues are on the application form. AIA Maine dues are $90 per year.

Allied Individual Member
I am not eligible for either of the memberships above but I am in a field allied to architecture.
The allied membership was created at the state level to promote communication among all members of the design and construction team. It is open to engineers, planners, landscape architects, contractors, artists, and those in government, education, journalism, manufacturing and other fields allied to architecture. Allied members are members of AIA Maine but are not National AIA members.
Allied membership dues are $200 per year.

Benefits of Membership
AIA Maine Architect and Associate members receive benefits from the State Chapter and from AIA National.
Some of the benefits of being a member of AIA Maine are:
• AIA Maine News: a subscription to our electronic quarterly chapter newsletter.
• AIA Maine Website Listing: we maintain a searchable list of architect-led member firms on our website.
• Continuing Education: Several programs are offered each year providing opportunities for continuing education. Members receive a discount when registration fees are required.
• Chapter meetings: The opportunity to meet your colleagues from around the state.
• Governmental Affairs: The opportunity to have your voice heard by the State Legislature on a variety of issues and bills related to the practice of architecture in the State of Maine.
• Design Awards: A biennial awards program to honor the best in architectural design in the State of Maine. Members receive a discount on Entry Fees.
