Communicating Design through Graphic Media:
Project Presentation and Website Design *
Join us for an interactive learning experience that will help you strengthen your
marketing tools, improve the graphic presentation of your work, and increase the
effectiveness of your website.
• Learn “Graphic Design 101” basic principles.
• Learn how to apply these principles to the design of competition boards,
project cut sheets and PowerPoint presentations.
• Learn how to streamline the process of designing a web site.
• Learn how to make sure your website is integrated into your overall brand.
• Learn how to maximize use of your website as your most powerful marketing
tool.
Participants are invited to submit sample presentations for constructive feedback
during the program. If interested, send your presentation in pdf format no later
than May 25th to Susan Koch, Executive Director, AIA Maine at
susankoch01@gmail.com.


Presenters:
Margo Halverson, is a Professor of Graphic Design at Maine College of Art and
Principal of Alice Design Communication. She is the author of DesignSense for
Presentations, an interactive CD teaching the basics of design. Margo is cofounder
and current chair of the board for DesignInquiry, a non-profit educational
organization devoted to researching design issues.


Lynn Ericson, is Principal of Ericson Mitchell, a marketing, communications and
design firm located in Portland. For 5 years, Lynn Ericson worked in the
marketing departments of two architectural firms before opening her graphic
design firm in 1990. Lynn has a B.A. in English Literature from University of Maine
and an M.S. in Communication Design from Rochester Institute of Technology.


Paul Gurney studied Architecture at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His tenplus
years of building web sites have honed his creative skills and aptitude for
project management, interface design and customer satisfaction. He specializes in
web application development using open source technologies.
