The Organization

AIA Maine originally was part of the Boston Society of Architects. In 1912, the Maine Society of Architects was formed for architects practicing in Maine. In 1934, the Maine Society of Architects was incorporated as a chapter of the American Institute of Architects. Now over 200 members strong, AIA Maine counts among its members architects from all over the State, practicing in firms ranging in size from one to 100.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Maine Chapter of the American Institute of Architects shall be to organize and unite in fellowship members of the architectural profession in the State of Maine; to promote the interests of its members; to improve the quality of the built and natural environment; to advance the standards of architectural education, training and practice; and to promote service to society.
