AIA Maine’s Program on Accessibility

Many thanks to the CAST for contributing to the remarkable and inspiring story of an architect dad who designed a wonderful home for his daughter—a place that gives her joy and a chance for independent living.

Denis Pratt, AIA, is currently serving as Chairman of the Technical Programs Committee of the U.S. Access Board, and updated members on the rulemaking process and requirements for rules to become law. He reviewed the anticipated changes in the recently released ADA/ABA Accessibility Guidelines (July 2004), and the proposed regulations now being developed by the Access Board, which involve public rights of way, passenger vessels and outdoor developed areas.

Phil Kaplan, AIA, and Portland Magazine Call for Residential Projects for Publication

Call for Residential Projects for Publication for an ongoing monthly feature. “Inside Story” features new homes (an occasional addition/remodel) with a unique angle—both in architecture and story line from Kittery to Bar Harbor, Maine.

Submit your project photos (in PDF or JPEG form, 3MB maximum), and a brief summary of the project context to Phil Kaplan, AIA, at pkaplan@maine.rr.com. Projects for which high quality photographs already exist are preferable.
